Hi, Daniel here. I am going to talk about the orchestra. This year I have been playing in the orchestra playing the glocknspeil for the first term then I was moved to the xylophone in term 2. Jermaine has been playing the violin with only 3 others who started the third to last week of the term. They did a wonderful job and played every note correct even though they started in week 7. That is pretty amazing for them, well done.
Ok I will tell you some of the instruments, there was a glockenspiel, a xylophone, the violin, the flute, the guitar, the drum in some songs and the recorder.
Now Jermaine will share about the songs.
Here are my favourite songs in the orchestra: cancan, mista, three note rock and rail rider.
Now back to Daniel.
Jermaine and I have had loads of fun in the orchestra with Miss Emeleus, I hope some of you guys will join the orchestra in your school if you have one or in a real one.
Check out these photos of everyone sharing their Flight inquiries with the class! We learnt SO much!

Introducing Kitty
Hi, I'm Kitty. I've just recently moved to Christchurch. I used to live in Leeds in England. The school I went to was called Whitkirk Primary School. It was quite big and we didn't have much sports equipment. We call our principal a 'head teacher'. We weren't allowed to play on the field except in class time! The teachers were a lot stricter than here! I like school here way more and Room 27 is ace and Miss Falkner is cool. At my school in Leeds we didn't get to have Subway days or Sushi days. Everything was inside, we didn't have to walk outside to go to any of the classrooms. We had a dinner hall where we went for lunch sometimes. All of our classes had animal names. My class was called Panthers. I was in Year 5 in England but I am in Year 6 here.
Christchurch is really different to Leeds because lots of things are different. Like the names of foods are different. There are bigger gardens here and it is quieter. I went to Hanmer Springs in the weekend and it was so cool. My friends in England were called Shirley and Holly. I have more friends here because they think my accent is cool and different!
Our family got a puppy a few weeks ago it is called Flo. She is gorgeous! I had a dog in England then we had to take it to a farm because it wasn't very nice. We also had a cat that had kittens.

Introducing Abbie
Hi there I'm Abbie. I have just moved from Ireland. This school is so cool compared to my old school. We only had concrete to play on and we weren't even allowed to play basketball at lunch time! We didn't have any laptops for learning. Our class room was a bit bigger. We didn't have a big rugby field like this. When I was in Ireland I lived 10 minutes away from school. Some teachers drove 1 hour to school. We called are teachers by their first name.We didn't call our classes year 1, 2, 3. We called them Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st class, 2nd class, 3rd class, 4th class, 5th class, 6th class and then we went to High School. I was in 4th class when I left.
This Thursday at St. Albans we are having our Big Day In. We get to bring our PJs and our sleeping bag. We are going to the hall to watch a movie. I bet it will be fun! I can't wait!
There is a Canterbury contest on on Sumdog. I am coming 21st.

Week 5, Term 2
Last week room 27 went to science friction and we did heaps of experiments. We had to make a car out of connector bits in groups of 4 or 5. We weren't allowed to push the car, we had a balloon and we had to cello tape the balloon to the car and one person in the group had to blow up the balloon and the air in the balloon pushed the car to make it go.
On Wednesday and Thursday we had two new girls starting in our class and their names are Abbie and Kitty. Abbie comes from Ireland and Kitty comes from England. They have wonderful accents.
On Wednesday Room 27 did thinking hats about Red Rocks. First we had to write the information on it about Red Rocks then we coloured it in. We worked in partners. Then we cut it out and each group did different ones.
This term St Albans school started having milk. We have it at 11:30. One person from each class goes and gets it. Theres a big fridge in the oak leaf cafe. We have to drink it dry and suck the straw so all the milk is out. Then we have to fold it in a special way and put it in a blue bin. Not everyone has to drink the milk.
