How Room 27 has been going this week!

This is Sam and Paige we are reporting this week in Room 27. This week we have done blackout poetry. How you do that is rip a page out of an old book, then search around all the lines for meaningful words. Then you vivid around the words you like and colour the rest in. We have also been making stress balls and that  was fantastic. With Miss Hansen we did some drama scenes and performed them to the class. Next week on Monday we are going to dress up as our favourite book characters because next week its book week. In term 4 the school pool will be set up and ready to swim in!We can see it being built from our balcony. Next term we are having a speech competition, it's like the poetry competition except we do speeches. It's for year 4, 5, 6. Team 27 is doing great this term. This term we have new PALs, PAL is where you get to take years 1, 2, 3, 4 and you teach them fun sports games. Sometimes at the end the PAL leaders will vs the younger children in a game!  This was Paige and Sam reporting your BREAKING NEWS listen next time!

HAPPY MATHS WEEK!!

Hi there this is Monique and Seani from Room 27 we are here to talk about our super fun week.
On Wednesday we did a CBD walk through Christchurch. A CBD walk is what we called our scavenger hunt. During the scavenger hunt we went to the Christchurch City Council building, in the building there was a HUGE feather dangling from the roof it was amazing. Outside of the Christchurch City Council building there were stepping stones it looked so flash. My favourite part was seeing Cathedral Square because I liked getting to see the Cathedral again and I loved all the pretty colours (Monique). My favourite part was seeing the 185 chairs that were in the city for the people that died in the February earthquake in 2011. It was really interesting (Seani).

This week it was also a Maths week and we did number posters. The number posters turned out incredible. With the number posters we chose a number with our buddies and wrote down everything that we knew about that number. All week we've been practising for the big math-a-thon test. We got given a sheet that matched our stage in maths, we took it home and practised and practised until the big test on Thursday (yesterday).
On Thursday we also did football in the afternoon for PE. It was hilarious everybody was sweating from the hot weather but they got back into it and played on. We are learning lots of skills in Football at the moment so it was awesome to practice.

Check out our AWESOME ART!

We created art inspired by NZ artist Tracey Tawhaio. She uses newspaper as the background of her art pieces. We loved creating koru and kowhaiwhai art using pastels and crayons.

Busiest Week Ever!

Hi it's Adam here.
This week has been really busy! We've done a lot of art.
It's called 5 pieces of art in 5 days: First we each got a quarter of a circle to decorate with cold or hot colours. Then they got put back into circles and they look totally awesome!!! The second piece was that we got a picture of the head of a dog and the front of a car, and we had to continue the picture in any way we wanted to! Ngatai's got put on the wall because it was the best one.(surprise surprise!)
Next we did our third one. We each got 4 squares of paper  and a jovi (crayon), and we had to find different textures, and then use our jovi to rub the texture onto it.
The fourth was the 3D hands. It's sort of hard to explain the process but basically, we traced our hands then added lines and bumps. We are finishing those today as well as our new one which is a collage.
Something for us to look forward to is; our big city walk scavenger hunt thingy-magig.
You/Your child will probably know the details.
Well that's all I've got for you this week, so until next time, peace out!
